Bad Honnef, 3 December 2020

Dear EAC Members, Friends and Colleagues, dear Arborists

Everything online? Of course, we have been ordering a lot online from trusted retailers for years, using a lot of online media, writing to our friends and families almost exclusively online, doing business primarily online – and now: the 2020 EAC Annual General Meeting was online too! After the successful meeting in Moscow in 2019, we all looked forward to seeing each other again in Vilnius, but unfortunately we were forced to cancel our gathering due to COVID-19.
The online reunion of over 30 participants from 19 countries exchanged ideas and networked, was characterized by trust, cordiality and also a little sadness. It is true that everything goes online, yet a lack of personal touch, which neither cameras, nor microphones, nor loudspeakers can replace. So despite of all the online euphoria, I hope it will come to the end soon and we can have a lot of personal meetings somewhere or everywhere in Europe. Wishing for a healthy reunion.
Wolfgang Gross
EAC Secretary,
